The gardens at This Sustainable House are
anthropocentric, in that they are designed primarily to be human habitat. Of
course, many of the qualities of these gardens that make them good human
habitat also make them excellent wildlife habitat. Check out the animals page
for some more information on the wildlife that has been spotted on the
property. With regards the flora of the project, well the
overarching principle adopted is mimicry of nature. I have found it easier to
plant the gardens in a seemingly haphazard manner rather than adopt the
straight lines of a more formal landscape approach. This 'haphazard' approach
adds a textural interest to the garden, as well as fooling many pests. And it's
